Forensic Action International is focused on delivering forensic services through 3 key areas of intervention; Advocacy, Advisory Services, and Action.
By building programs from the ground up through a community-centred approach, Forensic Action International aims to assist States, institutions, and practitioners, to build sustainable forensic services that address the needs of those affected by conflict and disasters and provide training to build capacity.
Advocating for the dignity of the dead and the needs of affected people, Forensic Action International can advise those concerned on designing, developing, and implementing large-scale human identification programs, and how to implement programs for the dignified management of deceased persons following conflict and disasters.
Oran Finegan, founder and director of Forensic Action International Limited and former Head of Forensics for the International Committee of the Red Cross has been working in the humanitarian sector for more than 25 years.
During his 15 years with the ICRC he worked as Regional Forensic Advisor for the Western Balkans (2008-11), Forensic Advisor for Iraq (2012-13), as Deputy Head of Forensics (2013-17), ICRC Head of Forensics (2017-2021), as Forensic Specialist for South East Asia, and as Forensic Manager for Emergency Preparedness and Response.
In 2023 he established Forensic Action International, where he is currently its director. The company is focused on advising and developing capacity for States and institutions on the management of deceased persons in conflict and disasters. He is leading the forensic work for the Office of Director for Intervention Tuam, in Ireland, as its Forensic lead.
